Reasons Why Youths Should Invest In Stocks

A share is a unit of ownership in a company. In other words, when you buy shares of a company you become part owner of the company and have the rights to share from the fortune of company and contribute to major decisions at the Annual General Meeting of the company. What are the benefits of investment in shares? The benefits are numerous, however I will mention just a few: 1. COLLATERAL: It serves as collateral, whenever we need loan from the bank. It is easier to use as collateral than using buildings. No need of certificate of occupancy, no need of evaluation by estate valuers. By looking at your shares certificates or CSCS statement, the bank manager knows the value of the shares and you also know. Shares are the most preferred collateral security because of its liquidity. 2. DIVIDENDS: As a part owner of a company, you are entitled to dividends. Dividend is a cash reward made by a company to its owners out of the profit made at the end of a financial year. The amount of dividend received is determined by the volume of your shareholding. My mother used the dividend she received between 2000 and 2003 to build 2 units of 3 bedroom flats in Lagos. 3. BONUS SHARE: This is similar to dividend but it does not involve cash payment. When a company gives bonus shares, it means every shareholder is entitled to additional free shares. N3500 used in buying 1000 units of First Bank shares in 1993 have grown to over 54,000 units valued at almost N900000 in 2013 due to bonus shares and growth of the company. 4. CAPITAL APPRECIATION: Shares of companies may appreciate due to the forces of demand and supply, growth of the company, management competence or growth in the economy.

Messi: I will never forget Barcelona debut

It's 10 years since the Argentine forward first appeared for the Blaugrana's senior side and he has insisted he's been living the dream ever since Lionel Messi has nothing but fond memories of his Barcelona debut as he is set to celebrate the 10-year anniversary of his first appearance for the Catalans. The prolific attacker made his first-team debut in the friendly game against Porto on November 16, 2003, and he has stressed that it was a dream come true for him to join up with the senior side at the tender age of 16. "November 16 2003 is a very important date for me, because that’s when I was able to make my childhood dream come true," Messi told Barca TV. "It was a very happy day for me. I’d fought hard to make that moment happen and it was really special. "I remember that we were training with the Juvenil A team and, when it finished, [academy co-ordinator] Josep Colomer talked to me about a few things and then told me that I would be travelling with the first team. "He told me that I should just go and enjoy the game and the experience, but when I came back I should concentrate on the Juvenil A team." Messi has since gone on to develop into Barcelona's undisputed star player, yet he has stressed that his success has not changed him. "I think that I continue to be the same person. I see things in the same way, though I have grown and learnt how to value things." The Argentina international, 26, is currently sidelined with a hamstring injury and is set to be out of action for the remainder of 2013.

Governor Sule Lamido's Sons Arrested By EFCC Over N10 BILLION

Sons of Jigawa State governor Alhaji Sule Lamido were yesterday [November 14, Thursday] arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission. They were apprehended in Kano in the evening, and were subsequently moved to the EFCC headquarters in Abuja on Friday morning, where they are being interrogated by a team of detectives. According to inside sources, Aminu and Mustapha Lamido's arrest follows the investigation that commenced in December 2012. It will be recalled that Aminu Sule Lamido was on his way to Cairo, Egypt when he was arrested at the Mallam Aminu Kano Airport for failing to declare the $50,000 he had on him. Despite his prosecution, further investigations into the matter uncovered a web of money laundering. Billions of naira from Jigawa state government accounts were funnelled into the accounts of companies run by the Jigawa state governor and his two sons. Till date, over N10billion have reportedly been transferred from Jigawa state government accounts into the accounts in which Sule Lamido and his two sons have interest from 2007. In the course of investigation, the EFCC have traced the transfers to a number of companies where Lamido and sons are directors and signatories to the account. The companies are Bamaina Alluminium Limited, Bamaina Holdings Limited, Bamaina Company Nigeria Limited, Rawda Integrated Services Limited, Speeds International Limited and Saby Integrated Nigeria Limited. The account of these companies received huge cash inflow between 2007 and 2013, a period that coincide with the tenure of Sule Lamido as governor of Jigawa state.

We Should Play Ethiopia As If We Don’t Know Them – Keshi

The Head Coach of the Super Eagles, Stephen Keshi, said the players needed total concentration and presence of mind in Saturday’s World Cup qualifier match against the Walya Antelopes of Ethiopia. The match, scheduled at the UJ Esuene Stadium, Calabar, is the second leg, final round qualifier for the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil. Stephen Keshi, in a statement issued by the Eagles Media Officer, Ben Alaiya, on November 15, 2013, Friday, said the players needed to concentrate at all times to enhance their chances of winning the encounter. The statement urged the players to play the Ethiopians as if they had never met before on the field of play. “In fact, they should play as if they don’t know them. All they need is to win and they must win well’’, Keshi was quoted as saying. It said Keshi, a.k.a. Big Boss, expressed optimism that the Eagles would win Saturday’s game in spite of the fact that the Ethiopians had not lost any game away from home turf. “We have also not lost any game away and we are the Champions of Africa. We must be ready at all times for any opposition. That is what we are set to do on Saturday.” The team’s captain, Vincent Enyeama, was also quoted as saying that no team at this stage can deny the country the World Cup ticket. “We are hundred per cent fit and there is no way any team can deny us the World Cup ticket at this point in time. “We may have made mistakes along the line, but the focus is total and we will get what we and Nigerians desire against Ethiopia”, he said. Nollywood stars were also not left out at Friday’s training as Osita Iheme, popularly known as Aki, was on hand to give the Eagles support. (NAN)

Lamido Cancels His Plans to Fight for Sons Release

over the allegation of money laundering. The duo was picked up in their separate homes in Kano on Thursday’s night and were flown to Abuja by the Anti-graft agency for further investigation. According to the sources of Saturday Vanguard, Mustapha Lamido, alumnus of University of Abuja, and his elder brother, Aminu Lamido, who is also a 2010 mass communication graduate from Bayero University Kano, were been investigated for alleged money laundering to the tune of N11billion. The development is coming on the heel of arrest and conviction of Aminu Sule Lamido July 12th 2013 by a Federal High Court in Kano for laundering $50,000 US Dollars. The Governor of Jigawa state, who has already arrived to Sokoto ahead of Saturday’s Rotimi Amaechi faction of Governor’s forum retreat, was forced to return to Abuja to confront the development. “I must confess to you that Lamido is completely shattered by the development and has sacrificed every other schedule at the moment to confront the emergency. “Lamido is too passionate about his children and he would do everything at this trying moment to secure their freedom,” a source close to the Governor revealed. Mr. Wilson Uwujaren, the EFCC spokesman, confirmed that two persons were arrested in Kano for money laundering, and investigation was on. In the meantime, uneasy calm pervades the ancestral home of Lamido Friday as the news filtered in that their District head popularly referred to as Hakimi, Mustapha Lamido and his elder brother, Aminu Sule has been nabbed by EFCC over money laundering. Most respondents who appeared piqued by the turn of event were of the opinion that the arrest was politically motivated as they stressed that “we believe in prayers and we would take our case to God for his intervention”.

Breaking News: ThisDay Bomber Jailed for Life

Mustapha Umar, a self confessed Boko Haram member arrested and tried before a Federal High Court siting in Abuja in connection with the 26th April, 2012 bombing of SOJ Plaza in Kaduna state occupied by ThisDay, The Moment and The Sun Newspapers, was on November 15, 2013, Friday, found guilty of the one count charge of terrorism and sentenced for life. The convicted terrorist was alleged to have driven a white Honda Academy car with registration number AL 306 MKA with improvised explosives devices into the premises of SOJ plaza with the intention to detonate improvised explosive devices within the premises. The incident claimed the lives of three persons and caused several degrees of injuries on others. The convict had pleaded not guilty during his trial but the court placed heavy reliance on his recorded interview which he granted to investigators during interrogations where he claimed to be a member of the notorious Boko Haram sect, as well as the testimonies of ten witnesses comprising of police officers who participated in the investigation and were led in evidence during the trial. The prosecution drew the court’s attention to section 4 (2) of the Terrorism Act and asked the court to consider the deaths recorded at the incident and to pronounce a death sentence on the accused but the court declined that invitation and pointed out that the convict was charged against section One of the Terrorism Prevention Act which provides for a life sentence upon conviction. The court also found that the convict demonstrated no remorse for his actions throughout the trial and observed that the souls of those whose deaths were caused by his actions are crying out for substantial justice noting that no one’s life is more important than that of others. Furthermore, the court held that the convict’s reason for attacking ThisDay newspapers which he said was because the newspaper was denigrating Prophet Mohammed was unattainable and noted that as members of the fourth realm, nobody should be allowed to muzzle the press, an objective which the terrorist act was calculated to achieve. Pleadings by the defence lawyer for the court to temper justice with mercy as the convict is a youth whose family and aged parents depend on for their livelihood fell on deaf ears as the court slammed a life sentence on the convict with a fine of One Hundred and Fifty Million Naira. His sentence is to be served with hard labour. The court further noted that the state of mind of the convict with which the terrorism attack was planned, coordinated and orchestrated reinforced its determination to remove him (Mustapha Umar) from the public for life. To the families of the victims of the terror act, the court awarded the sum of One Hundred and Fifty Million Naira, noting that their deaths should not just go like that. This will be forwarded to the Committee set up by the President on the resolution of the Boko Haram insurgents actions for payment. The court presided by Justice Ademola Adeniyi also praised the Nigeria Police Force for the expertise and professionalism demonstrated in the trial which led to the quality prosecution of the matter by the team of lawyers led by Mr. Shuaibu Labaran, a senior state counsel from Nigeria’s Ministry of Justice. The case is the first conviction recorded under the amended Terrorism Prevention Act of 2011.

Tips To Boost Your Sexual Desire Naturally

If you’d like to take advantage of some of the health benefits that regular sexual activity has to offer, yet find that your desire just isn’t what it used to be, there are many natural tips that can help. Your sexual fires may also be fanned simply by eating less sugar. High levels of sugar in your bloodstream can actually turn off the gene that controls your sex hormones. Other tips to give your libido a big-time boost include: Getting physically active: Studies have shown that men who engaged in regular physical activity lowered their risk of experiencing sexual dysfunction. Remember, when using exercise as a drug, it’s important to vary your routine. Optimising your diet based on your body’s unique nutritional type: Everybody has a unique nutritional type with varying demands for the ratios of macronutrients (fats, proteins and carbohydrates) to function optimally. When you’re eating the foods your body was designed to eat, you’ll notice improvements in every aspect of your health. Some people do better eating mainly proteins, some do better eating mainly carbohydrates and some do better eating a combination of proteins and carbohydrate. You will need to do tests to find out which metabolic type you are. Optimising your vitamin D and insulin levels: These simple measures have profound influences on every area of your health, including your sex life. Consider using choline and vitamin B5 supplements. The neurotransmitter that triggers the sexual message, in both men and women, is acetylcholine. According to a study on the impact of sex on stress, as measured by blood pressure levels in stressful situations, sexual intercourse may be one of the best ways to calm your nerves. Sexual desires, as well as orgasm, are controlled by various influences on the brain and nervous system. Researchers have revealed many similarities between men and women; contrary to popular belief, for example, visual stimuli spur sexual stirrings in both. Also, brain imaging studies show that achieving orgasm involves far more than merely heightened arousal. It requires a release of inhibitions, culminating in a shutdown of the brain’s center of vigilance in both sexes, and a widespread neutral power failure in women. So being fat can have a negative effect on your sexual desire and satisfaction. New research shows that if you are fat and can lose about 13 percent of your body weight over two years you can feel more sexually attractive and have greater sexual desire. So you don’t need drugs to have a better sex life. Losing a bit of weight may just do the trick.

Simple Ways To Make Any Woman Want To Sleep With You

Most bedroom problems boil down to this: Men are microwaves and women are slow cookers. With men, all you have to do is push a few buttons and we're hotter than a habanero. But with women, it's an all-day process. You have to buy the ingredients, mix them together, and then put everything in the pot and let it simmer ... and simmer ... and simmer. That's why we're offering a microwave mentality for the Crock-Pot reality: quick, easy things you can do to make her heating speeds better match yours. Our suggestions take anywhere from a few seconds to a few minutes. The payoff? They'll quickly adjust her thermostat to high heat. Embrace Her Until She Ends It Good kissing tops most women's lists of turn-ons, but don't underestimate the heating power of a great hug, especially when she initiates it. Let her know how much you savor it. Make it clear you don't want the hug to end. Wear Her Name Women love to hear men use their names. The more unexpected the place—like in the middle of a sentence—the better. Better still, write her name on your shoulder, your hand, or anyplace she'll have a chance of spotting it. It's a tattoo without pain—one that gives only pleasure. It will make her laugh and think you're so adorable. It says, 'You matter.' Whisper into Her Ear In public, at a party, tell her what you want to do to her later: Tonight, I'm going to make you have as many orgasms as possible. For women, anticipating it can be as exciting as the actual event. Skip the Flowers Blooms at the office are overdone. If you want to stand out, send a card instead. "It's really the thoughtful things you do at nonsexual times that make a woman want you. Go with a thank-you. Write out a few things you've never thanked her for—making breakfast on Sunday, cleaning your stubble out of the sink. An appreciated woman during the day is an appreciative woman at night. Plant a Picture Stash a photo of her in your wallet. She'll deny it, but all women rummage at some point. You might as well turn it to your advantage. Say Why Anyone can say, "I love you," so explain why. Maybe it's the way she nibbles at a KitKat, or how her nose scrunches when she drinks tequila. The more unique your reasons, the more special she'll feel. Get Your Story Straight For a happy ending (tonight and every night), remember the beginning: the details of your first meeting—where you were, what she was wearing, what you said, and how you felt. Recount them. Often. Make Yourself Sick Leave love notes around the house—in the fridge, on the bathroom mirror, under her pillow. That much sweetness might make you nauseous, but it'll make her feel like a lovesick teenager. Kiss and Lick Her Hinges You've got the obvious kiss spots covered. Now concentrate your efforts elsewhere—on her elbows, knees, shoulders, ankles, neck, and hip joints. They're rarely attended to with long caresses. It's a super sensation. See if you can make her come unhinged. Try the No-Move Move When you start foreplay, tell her you're not going to move on to another action until she tells you what to do next. This works physically and mentally: It's a way to encourage her to open up and direct you to what she really wants. Now, your turn. Give Her Chills Cold is sensed by more nerve endings than mere touch can reach, so you're expanding her range of response. Do this: Chill a bunch of grapes for at least 20 minutes. Then trail a small sprig of them along her neck, nipples, and inner thighs. Nibble away. Now put a grape in your mouth and gently press it against her clitoris by holding it in your teeth or between your lips. Make a Bedroom Burrito Bondage is appealing for a good reason: It heightens the anticipation for the one who's receiving the pleasure. But anything with locks, Velcro, or ties can freak her out (us, too), so try this: While you're rolling around in bed, wrap her up in the sheet so she can't do anything with her arms. Leave her head, shoulders, and lower legs uncovered. Now kiss every inch of exposed skin. It's simple, spontaneous, and soft-core. Blindfold Yourself Many women who are insecure about their bodies stick to the missionary position because you can't see their bodies that way. If you really can't see her because your eyes are covered, she'll do a lot more with you, to you, and for you. Before you enter her, ask if it's okay. Some women find it incredibly endearing. It gives them a sense of respect. It gives them the security to become more sexually relaxed. And when you're first entering her, kiss her lips or caress her face. Give her stimulation in addition to penetration. Practice Reentry After you first enter her, do it again—slowly. Repeat it over and over. One of the huge turn-ons is anticipation. Don't pull out all the way, but when you pull almost all the way out, she gets the anticipation of the stroke that comes back in." Do It in Public Or just pretend. Exhibitionism is a secret thrill for many women, but the threat of arrest deters them. So have sex standing up, with her near the bedroom window. It's easy to duck out of the way. If she's semiclothed, your neighbors will be none the wiser. Call a Squeeze Play With her facedown and you on top, have her cross her legs, and position yours outside of hers. Her vagina will feel tighter, and the added friction means more pleasure. Get Bigger When you're on top, place her legs over your shoulders. This shortens her vaginal canal, so your penis feels bigger inside her. tand by Your Woman For better from-behind sex, have her kneel on the edge of the bed with her upper chest touching the mattress. This elongates the vaginal barrel, making it feel tighter. You get a fantastic view, and she'll enjoy the nipple stimulation from rubbing the mattress. Make It Easy For oral sex, stand while your partner kneels or sits on the bed. This angle lets her take more of you, gives her better control, and is less tiring.

As a second child born under the strictures of China's one-child policy, she was not entitled to a state education. Nor did she have access to subsidized health care that most city dwellers enjoy. She used her mother's and sister's identity cards to buy medicine when she fell ill. Unhappiness over China one-child policy Chinese skirt one-child policy What in the world? "She kept asking me why she can't go to school, why she can't while all others do, and I had no idea how to respond her except repeating that she is a second child," her mother Bai Xiuling, a former factory worker, told CNN from her modest bare-brick home. Li says she was not jealous of her 28-year-old sister, but grateful because she tutored her in her spare time. "I want to learn as much as she does but it's different because she can go to school and I cannot." Her mother fell unexpectedly pregnant in 1993. Despite the risks, she went ahead with the pregnancy. A childhood bout of polio damaged her leg and she wanted to have another child to take care of her in old age. China's family planning laws require most families living in urban areas to have one child. The policy is looser in rural areas and can also be skirted by those who can afford to pay the eye-watering fines. But Li's parents could not pay the 5,000 yuan ($820) penalty and authorities denied Li her household registration documents, or "hukou," which entitle city residents to subsidized health, housing and education. Reform? The one-child policy, though applauded by many for slowing down China's population growth, has been widely criticized for resulting in forced abortions and hefty fines that are sometimes used to enforce it. Some critics say the law hurts China's elderly, who typically rely on their children for support in old age, and even constrains economic growth as the working age population begins to decline. READ: Forced abortion sparks outrage, debate in China In August, Xinhua, China's state news agency, said China was deliberating relaxing the policy to allow couples, where one parent is an only child, to have two children. Currently, both parents must be sole children to be eligible for a second child. The government is also debating a two-child policy after 2015, according to state media. "We are optimistic that an end to the one-child policy will soon be confirmed," economists Ting Lu and Xiaojia Zhi wrote in an August report for investment house Bank of America Merrill Lynch. Li Xue, right, and her sister Li Bin. They said that reform of the three-decade old policy could happen after a key four-day gathering of China's top leaders -- the Communist Party's third plenum -- which began on Saturday. But even if the policy is eased, it is unlikely to make life easier for Liand others like her. Her family have campaigned relentlessly for her to have the "hukou" documents they believe she is entitled to in order to live a normal life. They have petitioned local and national authorities and are pursuing their case through the legal system, but, so far, to no avail. Instead, her mother and father said they have been beaten and harassed by the local police. "Li Xue's father and I were beaten brutally in 2001. I couldn't get out of bed for almost two months, and her sister had to take care of me," said Bai. Local police declined to comment when contacted by CNN. Chinese newborn, allegedly sold by doctor, is returned to parents 'Never give up' In September, the family received notice that their case would be heard by the Beijing High People's Court but they are not optimistic that the case will be resolved in their favor. A spokesperson for the court told CNN that the case is now being examined and an announcement will be made in due course. There were two possible outcomes; either the case would be retried or the original verdict affirmed, the spokesperson said. "The only thing we want is an explanation of why our daughter has no "hukou", and no more," said Li's father, Li Hongyu. In 2011, Li started a microblog on Weibo, China's equivalent of Twitter. She hopes her online presence will help draw attention to her plight, and she wants to use the platform to initiate more positive change for people in her position. When asked what she would major in if she had a chance to go to university, Li says she would like to become a lawyer. "I do enjoy studying law and hope I could use this to help other people, but right now, I have to be practical and solve my most urgent problem -- becoming a legal second child," she said. "Sometimes I doubt whether what I do will change anything, but I think I'll carry on," she said, echoing the name of her blog -- Little Xue never give up. Williams signs Felipe Massa in a bid to restore former glories

Felipe Massa has spent seven years with Ferrari but will be driving for Williams in the 2014 season. STORY HIGHLIGHTS Williams signs Felipe Massa for 2014 F1 season Massa will be leaving Ferrari at the end of the current season Will partner Valtteri Bottas at Williams replacing Pastor Maldonado Williams has endured a difficult 2013 with just a single point (CNN) -- Williams has turned to Brazilian Felipe Massa to boost its flagging F1 fortunes, the British based team confirming his signing for the 2014 season Monday. Williams, once a major force in the constructors' championship, has claimed just a single point in 2013 and has parted company with Venezuelan Pastor Maldonado. In his place comes the 32-year-old Massa, surplus to requirements at Ferrari after the signing of Kimi Raikkonen, but with a wealth of Grand Prix experience. He will partner Finland's Valtteri Bottas as Williams looks to revive its flagging fortunes. Read: Car to blame for Massa crash in Monaco "We are delighted to be able to confirm our 2014 driver line-up and welcome Felipe into the Williams family," said team principal Frank Williams. CNN Greatest F1 Driver: Day Two "He is an exceptional talent and a real fighter on the race track; he also brings a wealth of experience as we begin a new chapter in our story." Massa, runner up to Lewis Hamilton in the 2008 title race, has 11 wins and 36 podium finishes in his F1 career, but has had to play second fiddle to Fernando Alonso at Ferrari in recent seasons. "When I was a kid, I always dreamed about racing for Williams, Ferrari or McLaren and I'm glad to be signing with another icon of the sport following my time at Ferrari," he said. "With such a major change of regulations in 2014, I hope my experience will be useful in helping the team in its effort to move on from a difficult period," he added. Read: Massa's emotional return to Hungary Bottas impressed Williams with his performance to put their car third on the grid after qualifying for the Canadian Grand Prix in Montreal this season, but he was unable to capitalize in the race. Maldonado, who gave Williams a surprise victory in last season's Spanish Grand Prix, has been unable to build on that promise and it is unclear if he will secure a seat with another team in 2014. "We wish him well for the future," said Williams, who has signed Massa and Bottas to multi-year contracts. His team last won the constructors' title -- the last of nine -- back in 1997, with Jacques Villeneuve claiming the drivers' crown.

Bill Gates seeks to help eradicate polio in Nigeria

US billionaire Bill Gates on Monday vowed to help end the scourge of polio in Nigeria. "This is my fourth visit to Nigeria and every year I come I see us get closer to our goal of polio eradication," Gates said at a stakeholders' forum on the issue. Africa's richest man, Aliko Dangote, attended the forum, as did President Goodluck Jonathan and other dignatories and religious leaders including the supreme head of Muslims in Nigeria, the Sultan of Sokoto, Sa'Ad Abubakar. "I have decided to be in partnership with you and I will be excited when we reach this milestone and (there is) no more polio in the country", Gates said. Gates, wearing a traditional Nigerian flowing gown (boubou), said some parts of the country were slowing the overall progress made because they had failed to run campaigns and do follow-up work. He urged a presidential task force working on polio eradication "to track these gaps", urging greater interaction between campaigners. Jonathan applauded the Microsoft founder "for his commitment to help Africa solve its health problems". "There is no reason we should not eradicate polio by 2014. Let me assure you that the federal government is totally committed to eradicating polio," Jonathan said. Health Minister Onyebuchi Chukwu said Nigeria had reduced the "Type A" polio virus by 50 percent, though 51 cases had recently been reported. Jonathan announced the conferment of one of the nation's most prestigious honours, the Commander of the Federal Republic, on Gates in appreciation of his contribution to wiping out the disease. Speaking earlier at a meeting with leaders of the Nigerian parliament, Gates said the goal to eradicate polio in the country was possible. "The goal of saving lives is a very realistic goal. Through these efforts I do think that children who do survive will be far healthier and able to take advantage of their education and contribute to the success of Nigeria." Polio is caused by a highly infectious virus that invades the nervous system through the mouth and can cause irreversible paralysis within a matter of hours. Among those paralysed, between five and 10 percent die when their breathing muscles fail to work. Children under the age of five are those most at risk. Infection typically occurs through water that carries the virus. There is no cure for the disease, but there are highly effective vaccines to prevent it. In 1988, polio was endemic in 125 countries, but by 2012, this was reduced to three countries, Afghanistan, Nigeria and Pakistan, where health systems are poor and vaccination campaigns have been disrupted by Islamists. PDP heightens security at national secretariat as Oyinlola threatens to resume as national secretary

Olagunsoye Oyinlola Security has been beefed up around the Wadata Plaza national secretariat of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, following reports that ex-Governor Olagunsoye Oyinlola, reinstated last week as national secretary of the party by the Court of Appeal, was set to resume duties. The group of rebel governors, who are members of the Kawu Baraje-led faction of the party, had said at the end of their meeting early this morning that Mr. Oyinlola, who was also national secretary of the faction, was set to resume duties at Wadata plaza. Perhaps to stop the former governor from gaining entry into the party secretariat, security has now been heightened around the premises. A PREMIUM TIMES reporter who visited the secretariat an hour ago observed a large presence of security officials comprising of the Police and plain cloth operatives. Police officers carrying automatic rifles were seen strategically positioned along the road leading to the secretariat from the popular Sky memorial plaza. More policemen were also sighted almost covering the entire area surrounding the immediate vicinity of the secretariat on all sides. Two Police patrol vehicles were parked directly opposite the secretariat main entrance, while two more were parked at the intersection between the secretariat and roads leading to the FCT Court complex, a few metres away A Peugeot Expert Van was also strategically parked very closed to the main gate with all its doors open and its occupants in alert positions. The Court of Appeal, sitting in Abuja, had on November 6 reinstated Mr. Oyinlola as National Secretary of the ruling party. While setting aside the January 11 judgement of the Federal High Court, Abuja, which removed Mr. Oyinlola from office, the Court of Appeal, in the judgement read by Justice J.T Toh, held that the lower court acted in error by granting the declarative reliefs sought by the plaintiffs since the former national secretary was not a party to the suit that nullified the South West congress that produced him (Oyinlola). It also said that Mr. Oyinlola’s right to fair hearing was infringed upon and therefore invoked Section 15 of the Court of Appeal Act in giving the judgement.

BREAKING: Taraba Assembly elects new speaker

Former Speaker Haruna Tsokwa died of ‘brief illness’ The bereaved Taraba state House of Assembly now has a new Speaker. The Assembly this morning elected Josiah Kente as new Speaker to replace Haruna Tsokwa who died after a brief illness on November 4. Details of the election that produced Mr. Kente is, however, still sketchy. But initial reports suggest Mr. Kente, a former deputy majority leader of the Assembly, emerged by consensus after members agreed to retain the speakership position in the Southern Senatorial Zone of the state. Late Speaker Tsoka hailed from that part of the state. Deputy Speaker Tanko Maikerifi was reportedly disqualified to allow for religious balancing in the leadership of the state. Acting Governor Garba Umar is muslim and the lawmakers believe another muslim should not be allowed to lead the second most powerful arm of government in the state. Mr. Tsokwa died of a yet undisclosed ailment on the morning of November 4 at the Federal Medical Centre, Jalingo, the Taraba state capital. The late speaker was a staunch supporter of Acting Governor Garba in the ongoing battle for the control of the state. Mr. Tsokwa had escaped death by the whiskers on September 19 when suspected gunmen attacked his convoy along the Jos – Abuja road. He escaped unhurt but some policemen in his convoy sustained various degrees of gunshot wounds during an exchange of fire between them and their attackers.
